The tickets to the festival are sold out.
We are happy to be hosting the Nordic Permaculture Festival that will take place in Stjärnsund in Sweden this year. The Nordic Permaculture Festival is a travelling festival in Scandinavia, with the aim to spread knowledge and experience on permaculture solutions for sustainable living.
The festival is a great meeting place and will be filled with inspiring and experience-based workshops, lectures and activities. We’re starting to get some of the details sorted out and you can now sign up for the festival and buy your ticket here! Below you’ll find some practical information regarding the festival. We’re very much looking forward to meeting you all in August!
Co-creating is the theme!
Our hope and ambition is that the festival will be co-created by all the participants as we believe that will make it a much better happening and allows us to enjoy this festival at a low monetary cost. Everyone will therefor have the option of contributing with a workshop, activity, lecture or volunteering for a few hours at the festival.
Option 1. Workshop, lecture or an early morning activity. If you choose to share your knowledge in any way, please describe your idea in the signup form at the bottom of the page. The workshop core team will confirm with you whether your idea has been accepted or not, well before the start of the festival. If you have any questions regarding workshops, feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
Option 2. Volunteering. Those who will not lead workshops, activities or lectures will become part of a volunteer team during the festival for a few hours. These volunteer teams will help keep things running, and tasks include collecting garbage, helping people find their way, preparing lecture rooms, cleaning, doing dishes and so on. You will be given the chance of joining your preferred team when you arrive to the festival!
Program: The festival starts with the opening ceremony on Thursday night. Early morning activities could be anything from going for a run in the woods to doing yoga or shooting arrows. There is a total of eight slots for activities, workshops or lectures. Some activities may require more than one time slot, so please let us know how much time you’ll need when you fill in the signup form. There will be several parallel activities for every slot. The programme will be updated continuously, so keep an eye on this site and our facebook page
Children: Children are most welcome to the festival! They get to enter for free until the age of 10. We have a team working on children’s activities and there will be activities going on throughout the entire festival, with different activities for different age groups, many of them led by experienced educators.
Food: There will be an abundance of great food options for sale in different price ranges available throughout the festival. You can also make your own food if you have an outdoor stove. There is a small shop in Stjärnsund where you can get basic foods as well as an eco store at Fridhem Vandrarhem & kursgård. Food is not included in the price of the festival ticket. Getting here & Transportation: Stjärnsund is beautifully situated in southern Dalarna, about 25 km from Hedemora and 2.5 hours by car from Stockholm. We encourage you for the sake of the environment to car-share or take the train. If you take the train, then you can first go to Hedemora station and then there are a few buses on Thursday and Friday (see DalaTrafik) but not on Saturday and Sunday. Travellers coming from the North of Sweden might find it more convenient to travel to Horndal, also 25 km from Stjärnsund and request a ride from there. On this website can you offer or find car-sharing possibilities from various locations around Scandinavia or directly from Hedemora. There will be some people from Stjärnsund offering a ride from Hedemora for a small fee (SEK 150 per car).
Co-created market & seed sharing: Between 12 and 2 pm on the Sunday 9th of August there will be an open market where everyone at the festival is welcome to contribute with anything you want to sell or share with other visitors such as produce of different kinds, handicraft, seeds, seedlings, plants that are produced along the lines of permaculture ethics. You do not have to let us know in advance, just bring your goodies to the festival! We will provide tables. P.S. If you bring live plants, please make sure to be certain that there are no free riding slugs as we do not have them in all of Stjärnsund…yet.
